Paso Robles

After nearly a year under COVID restrictions, we were ready to see our SoCal family. Traditionally we have met them half-way between SF and LA, which puts us in Paso Robles wine country. We left early Sunday afternoon and planned a stop midway to Paso at a Pessagno Winery in Salinas. I had some difficulty finding one that would allow us to bring our own picnic. The weather was a little overcast and rain fell periodically, but we were protected by a tented canopy mounted over a handful of picnic tables. We purchased 2 bottles to cover the tasting fee then moved on.

From there we headed straight for the Oaks Hotel near downtown Paso. We hadn’t stayed there before but at roughly $95 a night it was hard to pass up, especially with a recommendation from a wine tasting/touring friend.Next stop- dinner at The Hatch, a place we all wanted to try, and it did not disappoint.

Monday, April 26, we made our way to Adelaida, where one of our group had a wine pickup.

Next on our list was a winery with lunch, Opolo.

We set early Tuesday morning for a winery we had never visited but were told not to miss – Sculpterra.

We rushed from Sculpterra to have lunch at Niner Wine Estates.

We ended the day at L’Aventure Winery.
