This past Saturday we traveled to Domaine Carneros, as we do every month, to pick up our allotment of pinot and sparkling wine. This time, however, we decided to make a day of it by attending a holiday show at the restored Sebastiani Theater on Sonoma Square. We had no idea what to expect. Would it be a touristy Christmas show to attract customers to the shops of Sonoma or might it be something worthwhile? The “extravaganza” promised MUSIC, MAGIC & MORE (their caps). It also promised a special appearance by Yo-Yo Man Tommy Smothers. So, for $7 apiece, how could we go wrong?
Well what we saw a an honest-to-goodness small time holiday production with fine musical accompaniment, a little ballet, a little magic, lots of kids singing and dancing, and an eye-popping belly dance from a local instructor. It was thoroughly enjoyable. We may have been the only “tourists” in the building!
Note: If the video seems a little choppy, blame it on a corrupted scan disk in my camera. I had to retrieve the video through third party software and was not entirely successful. For example, I pretty much lost all of Tommy Smother’s Yo-Yo routine. However, I did capture the belly dancer in her entirety.
