Black Friday at Golden GlenLyon

While many Americans were rushing hurriedly from one big box store to another, searching for that must have piece of electronics or battery operated game for the kiddies, the Kazmar Klan made its way to lovely Glen Ellen in Sonoma County. Bill and Joan Kazmar bid on a bottle of wine and won a personal … [Read more…]

Trick or Treat!

We had a blast accompanying Enzo on his Halloween adventure.  Together with his moms and his nonni and poppi, Enzo returned to his old neighborhood in the Rockridge area of Oakland.  I must say, I saw more old-fashioned Halloween spirit … maybe more … than when I was a kid growing up in blue collar Paulsboro, … [Read more…]

Going Home … Paulsboro

Mid-March I traveled back East to visit my family, especially my lovely 93-year-old mother Mary. While there, I took a few shots of our old home in Haddonfield and some places from my childhood in Paulsboro. It’s always good to go home :).

“I Didn’t Burn Down the Cake!”

Halloween is big enough to merit celebrations throughout the days leading up to the Scary Day, especially for children, which is why Enzo is blowing out the candles on an orange and green cake in the middle of the week. I Didn’t Burn Down the Cake! from John DeAngelo on Vimeo.

Harvest Time in Napa

Today proved once again that in a former life I was a vintner, or at least a field worker. I can’t adequately describe why visiting wine country makes me so happy. It’s not just the wine tasting, it’s the whole wine experience, notably the ability to meet and talk with people like Kosta Arger, one … [Read more…]

Gymnastics Fun

Every Wednesday Enzo attends gymnastics class in his old neighborhood. It’s amazing what kids remember from week to week. You can see how well they follow through on their assigments without constant direction from the instuctor. Gymnastics Class from John DeAngelo on Vimeo.

Saying Goodbye to Jon and Lisa

Our nephew Jonathan, his wife Lisa, and son Mackay are being assigned to Sierra Leone for three years (Jonathan works for the State Department). I don’t imagine we will see much of them in that time, so it was important that we had a chance to say goodbye before they left. So, those that could … [Read more…]

Ira and Sheila Visit Napa

A former colleague of mine from Temple paid a visit to the SF area with his wife Sheila and friends Ken and Susie. We prearranged a meeting in the Carneros area of Napa Valley. The fog broke just in time to enjoy a glorious Napa Day. The tour started at Domaine Carneros, moved to Acacia … [Read more…]

Geoffrey and Beth in Berkeley

Judy and I met up with old friends Geoffrey Forman and Elizabeth Lee at the restaurant “Gather” in Berkeley. It was the first time Geoff had seen Adrienne in 20 years, and the first time he met Colleen and Enzo. It was also a belated anniversary celebration for Bun and Colleen. Not only was it … [Read more…]

Swimming Lessons

This summer Enzo spent nearly every Wednesday and Saturday with Yvonne in the Alamo SQ community pool learning to swim … or maybe I should say getting comfortable in the water. Swimming is still a future goal but Enzo progressed from tentative steps in the shallow end to some degree of comfort in the mid-section … [Read more…]
